It’s all hula. I’m continuing the hula/tiki theme this spring apparently. The song “Aloha Oe” was actually written by the last Queen of Hawaii while she was imprisoned in her own home, and many of the songs we think of as hawaiian was written by her. You learn something everyday. Aloha means love or compassion, and is now used as a greeting. (Johnny Cash’s version of “Aloha Oe” is a perfect lazy Sunday song by the way.)
Disney’s “Lilo and Stitch” is set on Hawaii, with only Elvis’s songs as soundtrack. Wonder how many times I’ve seen that one, haha!
Elvis’ “Blue Hawaii” keeps inspiring me to draw hula-ladies, although I’ve never actually seen the film. I’ve just been listning to the soundtrack over and over again. I’m no better than Elvis’ fans in the 50’s, I even have a wine bottle with a picture of him on it. Maybe I should make a shrine with it;) And dedicate my religion to red wine and Elvis. Not a bad idea.
Love this girl! Wish I could go to Hawaii for a trip!
